The 2009 Newsletter
Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009
Hello all those who stop by this website either semi-regularly or once a year to check out the Green’s eighth annual newsletter! Its to our great disappointment and shame that we haven’t updated this website since this time last year but it probably says a great deal about the kind of year we have had and the busy-ness that we find ourselves both enjoying and hating (at different times)!
As 2009 comes to a conclusion, Bethya is nearly five years old, Nathanael has recently turned three and Josiah is a very mischievous nineteen months to the good.
For Bethya this year, 2009 is dominated by the fact that she has started school. She finished at her much loved pre-school in the Summer and, come September 4th, she started in Reception whilst her nervous parents looked on. We’re pleased to be able to report that she is loving school, really enjoying learning and doing very well (according to her teacher). She’s learning to read slowly but surely and going great guns.
Bethya remains very interested in her dancing and ballet. She took part in her ballet school’s theatre production at the Brooke in Chatham earlier this year (she was the second cat from the left) and recently participated in the Christmas spectacular as well. Quite apart from the lessons each week, she tends to prance around at the front of church every Sunday morning (getting both her brothers and other children to join her). Much to the delight of all sorts of parishioners of course!
Meanwhile, Nathanael has turned three and as Bethya left the pre-school, Nathanael was joining. He now goes three days a week and will slowly build up in the year ahead. He doesn’t start school till September 2011 so he’s got lots of time yet. While Bethya’s big thing is ballet, Nate is getting into football. Each Monday, Dave takes him to Socatots where he works on his skills and physical co-ordination with the other pre-schoolers (and Nate joins in too… buhboom!)
Nate and Bethya have also discovered Star Wars: Clone Wars with, of course, no influence from their old man whatsoever!
For Josiah in 2009, he has moved from helpless baby to precocious toddler with the emphasis on precocious. He’s has a real mischievous streak, a fearless attitude towards jumping off beds, clambering over sofas and launching himself into anything (often head-first). As we head into 2010, he’s just starting to pick up his speech more dramatically and moving from the usual yes, no, mummy, daddy type stuff into more - not least his brother and sister’s names!
Kerry’s life is probably the most hectic of us all. As well as being a full-time mum to our three delightful children, she’s getting more involved in both our church and the local community with the school-gate mums and dads. She has also become an Avon lady (!) and has done fantastically well with WeightWatchers reaching her goal weight and being back in the kind of shape she was before babies came along.
Dave continues to serve as a Curate with St Philip & St James here in Walderslade where we live. As well as being ordained as a Priest this year (meaning he can now do the full range of ministerial tasks), the big news for Dave this year was that his training Vicar left for a new post. A new Vicar is being sought for the church where he serves but in the meantime, Dave is helping to man the fort and getting lots of first-hand experience of what future Vicardom might feel like. He’s a very busy boy - as evidenced by the fact that he still hasn’t finished the MA dissertation that we wrote about this time last year!
Finally, would you believe that Dave and Kerry celebrated ten years of marriage this year in July? Hardly seems possible but it really has been ten years!
So that’s us in 2009. If you find yourself near Chatham, do come and say hi. We’d love to see family and friends, whether from near or far.
Hello all those who stop by this website either semi-regularly or once a year to check out the Green’s seventh annual newsletter. We can’t quite believe that it’s seven years since we started doing these annual reviews and certainly 2008 is a year with enough news to rival some of our best and most packed twelve months in living memory.
Christmas greetings to regular readers of our website or those who just pop by once a year to catch up on all our news! Humble apologies for the fact that this newsletter is somewhat delayed. Usually we try to get it done in good time for Christmas but, for various reasons, that hasn’t happened. We hope we’ve caught you in time anyway with this newsletter and
This is just a brief update to announce that I’ve just heard that I passed my ‘Certificate in Christian Theology’ qualification ‘with distinction’ at the end of my first year here in Cambridge at Ridley Hall.
Hello regular readers and occasional Christmas visitors! Thanks for stopping by to read our 2006 newsletter. I am sure that there are very few people who know us and don’t know our big bits of news from 2006 but, nevertheless, we’ll rehearse it all for those near and far who for whatever reason have either been out of contact or with whom we’ve been terrible at keeping up!
