Reverend Green in his study on the laptop
It seems very strange to be writing this now at the end of October when we moved at the beginning of August and I was ordained as a deacon on the 6th of September (photo is me on the big day).
So my humblest apologies to this little ‘ol blog for not exactly being current in my provision of news and information but hopefully this is better late, than never.
The Green family (all five of us now with Josiah in tow as well) left Cambridge in early August and moved to the outskirts of Chatham so that I could start work in my new church, St Philip & St James‘. As I said earlier I was ordained on the 6th of September and have been working as the curate there ever since.
The brief update is that things are going well. Kerry and the kids are glad to be back in Kent, closer to family and (of course) old friends. I’m enjoying the work (most of the time). Every day is different and there’s challenges aplenty. Variously I’ve spent time leading services, preaching sermons, leading funerals, taking on pastoral visits, leading the youth group and trying to get my head around the wider children’s work plus all sorts of other things I’m sure that escape my memory right now.
To be honest, I don’t spend much time looking like the picture on the right. St Philip & St James is a relatively informal church and so this kind of clobber only tends to come out for Funerals (which I do a few of) and Communion services (which I’m not allowed to lead just yet).
If you want to get hold of us, of course, phone numbers and postal addresses are all different now. Unfortunately phone numbers (three months on from moving in) are still a bit of a dog’s breakfast with British Telecom apparently unable to comprehend some fairly simple wishes and instructions on our part. However, in general terms, you can find us and reach us at 3a Kit Hill Avenue, Walderslade, Chatham, ME5 9ET. You can phone us on 01634 864348 or email us using this website if you don’t know our usual email address.
