Welcome to Nathanael!

Nathanael's first pictureWe are pleased to announce that Nathanael John Robert Green was born this morning at 01.50 a.m. weighing a eye-watering 9 lb 9 oz. Both Kerry and Nate are both doing really well and we’re all absolutely delighted. Bethya is looking forward to meeting her baby brother later today for the first time and grandparents are winging their various ways from Kent.

A few days early and mostly in response to a curry we had last night for Kerry’s birthday (which was yesterday), the birth proved to be a speedy and fairly traumatic affair. The whole thing was just under 4 hours from start to finish with a dash at the end as Nate had got the umbilical cord around his neck and was strangling himself. For those that wish to know such things, gas and air was the pain-killer of choice this time and both vonteuse and episiotomy came into play as they did with Bethya.

Nate has spent most of his first few hours asleep and is increasingly comfortable following his traumatic entry into the world.

For those interested in the name, we chose Nathanael (which is a Hebrew name) because we liked it’s meaning – it means Gift of God – and being able to shorten it to Nate. His middle names are family names on Dave’s side of the family so he is carrying on a tradition there.

We are both very pleased and really excited about becoming parents again, and your thoughts and prayers for all four of us are very much appreciated.

Welcome to the world! Haven’t met you yet. We are on the other side of the world, there is a decent distance between us but we have places to show you when you are up for it. Look forward to welcoming you in person one day…
