London’s burning

I thought I had better post to let anyone who stops by the site know that I’m fine and everything is fine after the atrocities in London today. I happened to catch a bus from Charing Cross this morning around 09:05 and first heard that there had been ‘a bang’ on the tube once I reached work but like most people, I guess, my initial reaction was to think that the great British workmen were up to their old tricks and it was simply a mechanical failure of some kind. It was when news filtered through about the bus that I think everyone started to realise that there was more to it than met the eye.

I have to say that I felt very safe and calm in Church House. Being so close to Parliament, security is very tight and the emergency services swept into action in an extremely impressive fashion.

The most tricky part of the day was dealing with emails, texts, phone calls (on both work and mobile numbers) from friends, family and colleagues all checking that we were okay.

I’ll be in work tomorrow if the trains are running normally, as they were tonight. The best thing we can all do is carry on as normal, I think.
