The 2004 newsletter
Hi everyone! Thanks for stopping by to read our newsletter. It’s hard to imagine that yet another year has gone by but here we are at the end of 2004 preparing for another major change in our lives.
As you may have already heard (and will certainly have noticed if you’ve seen Kerry recently), we are expecting our first child.
The little bundle is due to arrive on 3 January and so as we write this newsletter and send out our Christmas cards, we are less than a month from welcoming a third person into our house!
You can find out more about the big announcement by looking back at an article we wrote earlier this year.
In recent months, our lives have been pretty darn busy. It feels like we work all day and then are busy every night of the week! Between ante-natal classes, church commitments and trying to finish off the kitchen and starting a nursery from scratch – it’s been a pretty hectic time. Thankfully, and mainly due to the DIY skills of a good number of friends or relatives, we now have a finished nursery with lots of brand new gear in it… all just waiting for the little boy or girl who is going to make use of it!
Kerry is obviously on maternity leave right now but the general plan is that she won’t go back to work in the New Year and will instead become a full-time mum. Dave is still working for the Church of England in London (five years now) and still turning out various electronic projects just as fast as he can manage them.
We’re continuing to worship at St Matthew’s church in High Brooms and do our level best to get involved. Dave has continued to have plenty of opportunities for speaking during the year and has mixed in several sessions at St Matt’s with talks for Tunbridge Wells Youth Forum, the ID Youth Event and Boulder Gang. We went away to New Wine with the church during the summer once again to help run the Boulder Gang venue (1,100 10 to 11 year olds over two weeks!!!) hence why Dave did some speaking there. Kerry was part of the core team at New Wine and ran the much-needed special needs work for the venue. Back at home, Kerry organises one of the children’s groups on Sunday mornings and seems to keep herself busy with a multitude of activities despite being resting (in theory).
Unfortunately, the holidays haven’t been so glam this year with a sole week away in Cornwall late in October to show for our efforts. New Wine in the Summer ate up the holiday time then and other than that, we’ve been trying to save up Dave’s annual leave so he can have a nice long break when baby arrives. We managed to visit during a week of storms and hurricanes but it didn’t really worry us too much and we had a great time in a tiny cottage in Portscatho, which is just beautiful.
If you need to write to us with Christmas cards etc, the address is 81 Clifton Road, Tunbridge Wells, Kent, TN2 3AT.
So that is us in 2004. Enjoying some nice holidays, still resisting the urge to have kids (just), enjoying life and having fun. We hope you are too! Have a fantastic 2005 and don’t be strangers!
